2023 Filing Requirements

We strongly encourage staff members to submit their 2023 tax claim as 1 PDF file, including all the UN forms as a file upload to the UN Tax Portal ‘taxportal.un.org’ in the following order. Should an error occur, contact the Portal Administrator at taxportal@un.org.

Please find the job aid on the website/iseek page on how to merge PDF files into 1 PDF file.  

1. UN Form F65 with signature on page 2.

2. UN Form F65A if you worked overseas in 2023 with signature on page 1.

3. Proof of payment if you have paid off tax due (only Federal/NYS tax); (Bank/credit card statement with paid amount, cashed check images both front and back sides, online payment receipt with paid amount etc.)

4. Explanation memo with your signature if applicable; (For any legal reason, when receiving UN spousal allowance, but not filing jointly; when receiving UN dependent allowance, but not claiming dependents on your tax return.)

5. Federal return with signature on page 2 of IRS Form 1040, do not sign on the form 8879 (IRS e-file Signature Authorization page). 

6. Any applicable state returns with signatures, (page 4 of NYS return/IT-201/203, page 4 of NJ return etc.), do not sign on the E-file Signature Authorization page.

7. IRS Form 4506-C with physical signature, e-signature is not accepted for this IRS form, UN index# and leave 06/15/2024 as it is, when you submit 2023 tax claims before 06/15/2024. You may use current date on the form without preprinted date when submit claims after 06/15/2024.
